Maturity

I honestly don't want to update this blog, cos I want people to get stuck reading my awesome "tutorial" on how to live happily, but oh well.

*~*~*

Talking about maturity. I have this confusing thought that's been bothering me for a while now. I used to not worry about it at all, but nowadays I think more and more about it.

How do you define maturity?

I used to think a person who can pay her own bills, doesn't rely on other people, who is biologically mature (i.e: in her 20s), and someone who can think deeply about serious matters can be classified as mature.

And anyone who watches cartoons/anime, reads mangas, and play console games is always seen as immature.

The thing got more complicated when you involve Islamic things in the mixture.

So here I am, I'm twenty.

Biologically, I guess I'm almost mature.

But I still read mangas and animes and I really do play console games.

Some people would say people like me (or just me) aren't fit to "be a wife" or "masih di awang-awangan" and "tidak matang" aka = immature.

That pisses me off greatly, honestly speaking.

I mean, one thing I've learned in my short span of 20 years of living is that:

1. You can't generalize people.

2. You can't be too judgemental.

3. You are, most of the time, wrong about people when you jump to conclusions.

Let's look at it this way:

I attend usrah. For the most part, I'm trying my best to live according to Islam way.

But at the same time I read mangas, I watch animes, I play console games.

You can judge me, saying I'm immature.

But at the same time there are sides of me that you don't know about.

I study hard. I know I'm not a genius nor am I VERY VERY smart. I need to work my ass off to get good results.

I believe I have a bit of a mature mind. I don't do glaringly stupid things.

I manage my life pretty well (to my liking).

I don't get stressed for no good reason.

*~*~*

So here's a conflict I have.

I have friends who are studying pharmacy, medicine, allied health science, and I know they watch animes, they play console games, they read mangas (and one of them is currently crazy about VOCALOID characters).

I also have good reason to know those same people are living according to Islamic ways.

So you can see it both ways:

1. One view is to say that Malaysian youths are getting less and less mature (i.e: they're university students and are still watching animes? WHAT?)

2. Another view is that you can't generalize everyone.

Where am I in this?

How would you categorize me?

Am I immature?

Do I need to stop watching Digimon (for the umpteenth time)?

I don't know.

Why don't you tell me.

  3. yea...

ppl shouldn't judge other ppl just based on their hobbies or attitude... the most important thing is you can think wise and logical thoughts, so that you can live.

uhm... i'm not crazy about them like what u think, ok... -_-

  4. You are matured, you look matured, you think matured (I mean wisely) and you decide in a matured way. Although I've only seen you in REL200 class, but I think that's more than enough to say that you're a matured young lady.

The fact that you're reading mangas would definitely make people to think that you're less matured, but blergh, people are judgmental, what they think about you won't change the way you are, the way you think and the way you decide for even an inch.

You're as good as you are. It's all about you, all eyes that look at you don't actually matter.
