Marching bands...

I said I learned a lot in the World Music class didn't I?

For example, do you know that the marching bands we have today (like the school marching bands, etc) actually originated from the Turkey Uthmaniah's Mehter music.

You probably knew this already, but I didn't. So I thought that was interesting.

    Ottoman kan banyak tawan negara kan? So diorang ada marching band la.

    And benda2 yang kita nampak kat marching bands sekarang ni, mcm a leader with a stick, gendang besar2, uniformed clothings and movements, etc, tu semua dari Ottoman empire.

    Then I think Austria tiru Ottoman tu, so marching bands ni got spread into Europe and lama-lama masuk US.
